Henry Barnascone & Sons, Empire Celebrated Special Razor

From what I could find on the internet this razor is from the mid to late nineteenth century. I purchased it years ago. I believe, due to the appearance of the excessive hone wear, that it was originally a hollow ground. But now it’s nearly a wedge.

I’m sure something could be done with it other than use it as a letter opener. It could be rehollowed I suppose. Or, is it too far gone? Of course the original blade etching (or what’s left of it) would be removed. But I’m guessing the steel is likely good.

What would you suggest? Worth the effort to save?

BTW, I think the scales are something like horn. I would at least recycle the scales.

I think I’ve diagnosed at least part of the problem. It looks like the spine is uneven. The photo shows the opposite side that I didn’t include in my original post. I tried touching it up on my diamond hone, but it will probably take hours and I just don’t want to spend that much time on it.
