Henckels Rapide?

I've recently become quite the SE convert. I haven't as much as picked up my DE since I got my OCMM in the mail. One razor that I've read about that's really caught my eye is the Henckels Rapide. Has anyone used one of these before? I've been unsuccessfully looking for these online. It has such a cool, industrial look to it, I'd love to hear anyone's experience with this razor.

Thanks!

Bob

It is a great shave. I like it because it is solidly built, is as aggressive as I want it to be, and is about as nimble as anything can be with a standard se blade. By that I mean there is not much wasted space behind the blade to make it harder getting under the nose.

This is the model you would be looking for. If you look close it has the blade stops.

They're also quite reasonably priced lately. They were hot for a while but it looks like that's settled down.

That's great to hear. I did some serious hunting around today, and actually found one with the 7 day blade set and the handle is a nice brass color. It wasn't exactly inexpensive, but given the rarity, hopefully it's worth it. I'll be sure to post pics when I get it.

I just gave my new Rapide a go this morning with a Treet SE blade. What an amazing razor! It's over 100 years old, and shaves unlike anything I've ever put to my face. After 1 pass WTG, I was already acceptably smooth for the day. After my standard 3 passes - WTG, XTG ATG, I couldn't believe how close and comfortable the shave was. I had already all but given up on DE razors, and I'm very close to unloading my DE gear after finding the Rapide.

I will say I was nervous using at first, after reading how aggressive this guy can be. I guess it just was a good match to my technique - no nicks, no weepers, no alum. I highly recommend this razor if you can get your hands on one.

Good shaving,
~Bob
