Help to identify this razor

Hi,

Can anyone help to identify this razor,

$Made in Canada.jpg

It has the Gillette Diamond on it as well as Made in Canada.
I posted a pick on the facebook page and was told that it is a Canadian Single.
Was after a bit more info mainly the year.

I purchased a couple of razors on ebay which were advertised as Goodwills from the 40's, one was an open comb. The teeth on the comb of the Goodwill are thicker in size, if this helps to further identify this razor.

Cheers,

Canadian-made Old Type, complete with missing ball at the end of the handle. If there is no serial number on the top surface of the base plate, it would have been produced between 1921 to 1929. I'm not sure about Canadian serial numbers, but if it were numbered it would be older than that.

This razor was subject to handle cracking (caused by assembly method) with extreme cases coming completely apart. In your case, the ball at the end of the handle has been lost. Replacement handles are available in the aftermarket, with some guys liking to use the handle from a Gillette Tech. The razor will still shave nicely - just keep the top cap almost flat against your face and take short, light strokes. Enjoy!!

Thanks Brad,
I found this whilst having a look around and thought that this looked very similar.

I used the razor when my son first gave it to me and liked it but the handle was too short.
I recently got a couple of Goodwills off ebay( thats what they were advertised as) and today thought I should change the handle over.

Used it again with the new handle attached and was very pleased with the results.

I have that exact model of Canadian "Old Type"
The ball end has a tendency to fall out but aside from all of that it's a great little shaver.
