Help - Mismatched Cap & Comb on NEW?

Hoping you guys can tell me if the NEW I picked up a while back has mis-matched components .. ?

As shown in the pictures, the cap will not draw very far down onto the comb, which results in a blade gap that even I found intimidating. In fact I didn't even try it. Is this a case of a short combed cap on a long comb plate? If so, is there a work-around, or am I doomed to trying to find it's evil mirrored twin someplace?

Thanks

I would buy another one - they tend to sell fairly cheap on eBay or in antique shops - but keep the parts from this one for spares. The handle will fit all NEW types I believe.

That cap only fits a short comb NEW, but not all short comb NEWs have that cap, it is confusing.
That cap has the large corner nibs which fit the cutouts on a short comb NEW, many short comb NEW come with the same cap as the long comb versions.
I send out multiple heads to be replated and I nut the caps and base plates together, I often get them back with the caps and base plates mixed up and have to sort everything back out

It's a mismatch of some type, yes. But I don't know from what!

I tried a short comb NEW cap on a long comb NEW, didn't look at all like that (in fact it would work fine).

I also tried a Tech (thinking originally that was it), again looks nothing like the pic.

Thought of Good Wills, but none match that cap.

Anyone have an idea what that cap is from? :confused1

ETA: Aha, the answer below (from above)

I think the plate on the left is the one you should be looking for as a mate for that cap.

This one is from a Norfolk.

Thanks folks - this why this is a great place; I post an obscure question, go outside for a while, and comeback to a number of helpful responses. I see the differences now, anyone have either the "right" cap or comb lying about loose?

For what it is worth, I didn't pay a whole lot for it, the fact that it was in a Berkshire case though not a Berkshire handle should have said something to me ..

I've got one in my spare parts bin. If you want to PM me your address I'll get it out to you sometime next week.

It looks like the parts bin has come in handy. Twice in one day it's been able to help people out.
