Help ID top cap

Hello
I just purchased this EFBT but upon better inspection it appears the 4 corner tabs on the top plate are missing. Is this just me, am i missing something simple lol, or is this the wrong cap? Any help would be much appreciated. Right now I'm hopeful that it's just the lighting and my ocd haha

Looks to be the top cap of something like this late English New. Maybe no coincidence they are both English.

Hmmmm i wonder if the "News top cap" would even work on the flat bottoms straight bar techs bottom plate? I do not have a New to swap top caps with a tech to see. So safe to say this is not original to the razor?

I've not seen a FBT without the top cap ears I don't think.

I've just checked out the cabinet 4 from 4 with big ears, a No.25 in cellophane has ears, as far as i can see through the highly guarded cello, not unwrapping it [so dang fragile at its age] .... year date on that is ?? not in the memory!

Then I progressed over to the good ole 7O'clocks...

Clue? one with ears, one without!

A super sleuth I am not, I just say it's super rare, or some old barstool, not me, had a cap and it fits? Or there was a big ole box of 7O'clock parts somewhere?
Your pic gives me the impression the former owner/s were corner tappers? He/She [for political correctness, some them mono-brows on women are tough] may have had one ugly from the habit of tapping the corners, and one not so ugly, merged the two into a pretty one? The Baby Cheeses Forbid that a seller mad it look good for sale. I would never do that, no.

I just flappin me gums :D

Most Welcome, It is posts like yours that make my brain check the facts and fiction it holds? I like to know what I have, sometimes? Other times I make up a story, a swashbuckling story that even I would believe with a straight face. :D I just never know when I come across oddities if they are legit or been butchered? If it is a good Item I delve into it, if it is a third tier shelf sitter or a draw sitter it's correctness is not so important.

Very good philosophy:)

I wouldn't worry too much about it!

The New caps actually fit better, the rounded curvature on the inside fits perfectly with the flat bottom Tech. I'd say even better than the original angled caps.

I use my Flat Bottom with a US pre-war Tech cap (also rounded).

Thank you that's great to hear. I got a really good deal on it and hated to ask for a refund
