Help ID This Old Type

Can anyone help me positively identify this Old Type? I know it's a single ring, from maybe the 20's? It has a serial number under the blade plate that reads: N177008. It is kind of staggered, is this unusual? I can make out some of the lettering on the band at the bottom of the handle. It reads: Nov 15, and either D4 or 04. There are no cracks in the handle, which I believe is unusual. The only real flaws are the end teeth on one end are bent in.

Any info or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

1920 Single Ring.
Staggered numbers are normal.
No cracks in the SR handle is normal also.

That's right. Cracked handles were a problem encountered with the low priced ball end pocket editions of the WWI and later era. The standard handles did not have this as a significant problem at all.

Very nice looking piece. I have a soft spot for these. And the Patent date is Nov. 15, 04, which should appear on all US made Single Rings from 1906 to 1921).
