HELP! I can't stop spending money!

Any tips for a newbie on how to get out of razor acquisition mode? Antique stores make it so dang easy.

I need a new obsession! Quick, what soap do you recommend!

Provence Sante Green Tea, Pre de Provence, Mitchell's Wool Fat, Trumper's Rose, Harris Arlington, Speick, Irisch Moos, La Toja, Valobra, Arko, Palmolive, eShave Mandarin, L'occitane Cade, Institut Karite, Martin de Candre, and Mama Bear's Bergamot, Orange Orange and/or Lime EO soaps. That's just to get you started. There are others. Many, many others.

p.s. - Find 2 to 5 razors in good condition that you really like using and sell the rest to buy soaps (except Tabac... it reeks of Tabac).

Razors: You clearly need to buy more razors to determine what works best for you.

Soaps: +1 on Pre de Provence, Trumpers, and Arlington. May I also recommend Art of Shaving and the elusive Penhaligon's Tallow First English Fern.

Hey, let's help each other out with this spending problem...

We'll all meet at Ebay, and bid up stuff real high so almost nobody can afford it!

Waddya mean we already tried that?

I am trying to decide on more Derby's, which I like or maybe a sample pack and noticed the Mitchell wool fat...

Well, when you get to Chicago, head down to a great little neighborhood called Lincoln Square, it's on Lincoln avenue just south of Lawrence ave. It's home to some great restaurants, cafe's, music shops, novelty stores, specialty shops and last but not least; Merz Apothecary, an old time Chicago Pharmacy that sells a very good selection of soaps, creams, razors, and shaving accessories.

Baba

There are some guys on this forum - and I'm *not* one of them - that have over 60+ soaps in rotation, not including creams!

I am not the person to ask, as I suffer from severe A.D.s, my Muhle R89 just showed up yesterday, along with a vintage Trac II handle. I also have a Bull Mastiff XL on order with Cooncatbob.

The best option, is to set a monthly budget for this hobby, and try your best to stick with it.

You might want to join the Anti-A.D. group:

WOW, thanks for the distraction! It first occurred to me to ask how many razors are enough but figured it's kind of a loaded question around here :)

I have a few smooth shavers now and should probably put a halt to my razor spending... but the soaps! I see a LOT of places to buy from, any one or two that are really a cut above the rest in terms of price and service?

The prices of good brushes is what keeps me from tossing money into that category. I have a few cheapies that are just getting me by until I decide on the right brush. (Leaning towards a Pure Badger Onyx - but that's another discussion)
