Help fixing a 'Dropped Bottom' on a Slim Adjustable (Video Included)

So the bottom dropped out on my Gillette Slim Adjustable, it's actually kinda cool how it's acting now(never seen this before), and it's sort of like the Open Comb Aristocrat 'push to open'. Even though it's kinda cool, I'd still love to fix it. If anybody could help me take it apart/fix it, or diagnose the problem, I'd sure appreciate anything you could tell me. Btw, the bottom stays attached/doesn't fall out of the razor. Here's a link to the video I took of it.

Looks like you have a possible stripped thread situation. Then again without actually taking it apart I can not actually be sure. I am sure there must be a "Take Down" video on youtube of your razor so I would start there. If it is a stripped thread it would be repairable, but then again I have no way of knowing without haveing the razor in hand to diagnose the problem.

The worn out locking ring problem is easily fixed. Take some electrical wire that has a diameter that's a little larger than the locking ring (plastic coated wire please). Wrap it around the locking ring. Now, wrap the handle in tape or cloth - something to protect the handle. With a pliers, gently squeeze the electrical wire around the handle. Basically squeeze then rotate the handle, squeeze and rotate... keep doing that until you've squeezed all the way around the handle. This will compress the locking ring enough to hold the TTO knob in place.

Disclaimer: Do this at you own risk. I'm not responsible if you trash your razor. I would recommend practicing on a razor that you wouldn't mind destroying.
