Heavy Handle Tech Project

Here was my 4th of July day off project:

There was some unused real estate inside the handle of one of my Techs so I ripped the top off of a 12 gauge trap load and sprinkled the #8 shot down the throat of the handle. For a non-permanent mod, you can run an allen head set screw down the throat to lock in the shot and still thread the Tech head. I didn't like the sound of the shot shifting around so I dropped some urethane glue in with the shot but made sure to keep the threads clear. Post mod, my handle weighed in at a Junior Weber weight of 48g. It adds some nice heft but will have to wait until tomorrow for action testing.

It won't put Ikon out of the handle business but is a cheap addition to the arsenal.

I did this to a tech a while back with some lead shot (smaller that the #8 there) - it worked great. I think I plugged the top with a wad of paper or some such. It's worked well so far. And yep, it's a cheap mod! Before I got my iKon, I used the modified tech handle on my New's pretty regularly (and still do on occasion).

Did you notice much difference in performance?
