Hawleywood products?

I have seen several people here mention Hardwood's barber shop in Ca but I was wondering if anybody here has tried their shaving line? I have used their pomaide and its a good product so I decided to order some of their brushless cream and No 9 asb. Report as soon as it arrives. I also threw in a bottle of lilac vegital and some Lucky Tiger Aspen, yeeehaw.

Living a stones throw from the HB ca location, i plan to go check it out, maybe get a trim if i can afford it. Also looking forward to getting some no 9 aftershave. Heard good things on the LayRite pomade as well.

looking forward to your feedback.

I have been to their barber shop when I was visiting relatives in california not to long ago. Personally, I didnt like the vibe of the place. The concept was cool. Retro rockabilly barbershop.. shoot, they even give you a Pabst Blue Ribbon if you want.

However, I got the vibe that I didnt belong there. I'm into that whole retro style/rockabilly scene and have worn my hair with a pomp and rocked the vintage clothing look, so you would venture to guess that the place would be right up my alley. But I just got this cold/ostracized vibe from their barbers. Apparently, if your not tattooed up and driving a rat rod/lead sled/wearing Lucky 13 clothing/im too cool for this bar Modus operandi... you're really going to feel out of place I guess they are too "hip" for this cat. So keep that in mind when venturing to their barbershop.

As for their products... I think they completely overrated. While their aftershave smells nice, and the shave cream is alright.. its just not worth the money. As for the pomade, its just as overrated and expensive. It smells awesome, but there are cheaper and better smelling bang for you buck.

Check out my answers here from another thread:
For more cheaper options of a water soluble pomade check out these:

1. Lucky 13 Juniors Water Pomade - Holds great and has a funky coconut-ish type scent. Holds great. Only about $8.00.

Or the even better

2. Suavecito Pomade - Holds like layrite, but slightly better. Plus it has some cool Bay-Rum-Sugar Cane Coca Cola scent to it. Only $10, when you buy 3 its only $9. (check out my review on it).

Good luck you water pomade greasers.. im off to ruin some Pillowcases with my pomp. :thumbup1:

Well I gave the cream and as a shot the other day and while it does have quite a pleasant smell and its rather slick it produces almost no lather and takes twice as much as usual to complete a shave. I will use this stuff up but I don't think I will be buying more. As always ymmv.

That's Hawleywood's not Hardwoods barbershop. Stupid autocorrect on my phone.

Your phone has some funny Freudian lapsus sometimes... :w00t:

I've only tried Layrite and agree: Lucky 13 junior's or my preferred Pinaud's Clubman are waaaay better if you're looking for water-soluble pomade.

But nothing compares to Krew Comb for spikey hair.

I got some of the No. 9 Aftershave a couple months ago and I just don't care for it too much. The scent is a classic bay rum with a hint of cloves. It's a nice scent but it burns the hell out of my face. The bottle is really awesome looking, though. Glass bottle with a screw top and a dropper hole so you don't spill the juice everywhere. If you're a bay rum fan I'd definitely consider checking it out.

I get my hair cut at Hawleywoods and I like the No.9 bay rum, they use it on me after the straight razor cleanup post haircut. They also use a bay rum scented talc that is great, but I don't know if it is for sale.

The bay rum scent lasts a while on me.
