What's new

Have you tried this soap?

I received a soap sample in a recent purchase of the BST. It came wrapped in celophane, is thin and round and on the front it says, "Shaving Soap Sample" and on the top it says, "Saint Charles Shave, LLC" and "Saint Charles, Missouri"

I threw this little round puck in my large mug today for the fun of it. Used my Penworks badger brush on it. Proceeded to load the brush and noticed immediately that it started to produce a very creamy lather. Of course it was too dry, so I dipped my brush in some water and began to face lather. This stuff seems to be amazing!

First off, I noticed an strong scent of what seems to be cinnamon or pine or something. Anyone know what scent this could be? At first I thought it was causing a bit of burn on my skin....but the shave was going very well so I kept using it. I had a multiple pass shave with very minimal irritation. The scent grew on me. In fact I kind of like it.

Bottom line, excellent lather which helped me achieve a great shave. I'd just like to know what this stuff is and if anyone else has used it.

It's a Saint Charles Shave soap! The owner, Sue, is actually a member here. Her soaps are amazing and always recieve great reviews around these parts. I'm not sure as to what scent you have, but SCS makes some wonderful smelling products.

The picture is a red 'x' for me? The sample could be any number of fragrances. Instead of disposing of soap when there is not enough for a puck, we pour samples to enclose in orders. In November we had pumpkin for a period of time; generally there is no fragrance specified. It is not for a sampling of fragrance but so you can try a shave with it to see if you like SCS shave soap quality or not.

The grandkids think they are pretty cool labelling them, they argue over whose turn it is.

I loved the sample soap I got from SCS with some ASB, and all of Sue's soaps I've tried are awesome! SCS soaps are some of only a few soaps that leave my face feeling slightly moisturized after shaving, instead of slightly dried out. Try her other products, too - shave cream, after shave milks and balms, and fragrances. They are all first-rate and at great prices!

I think I attached a picture of a sample directly from your web site. So maybe that was why it didn't show up.

Anyway, I humbly disagree that it's not about the fragrance but just the soap. I love it! And I'd love to order that particular soap/fragrance combo. But without knowing which one it is, I can't. Kudos on the quality of the soap however, I will certainly be placing an order soon. Amazing stuff.
