Group buy - old spice soap - ??

Gents:

As I have only been a member of the Forum for about a month or so, I will ask a question that may be laughable to some of you; maybe not.....so here goes.

Has anybody ever approached P&G to see if they would be interested in making a "bulk order" of the old OS shaving soap pucks? I do not have any idea how many members there are in the B&B, but if each one of us took let's say 50 pucks, we might be able to make it worth their while for them to do a run.

Just a crazy thought..........so what do you guys think?

Regards,
D/E Bob

A more viable option would be to go to an existing soapmaker. Mama Bear makes an excellent OS knockoff. Maybe she or another soapmaker would be open to replicating the color, size and shape of the original OS pucks.

Prairie Creations has a tallow version, similar size, and a whitish color.

I don't think they would be capable of producing it. Can't imagine they kept the machinery.

+1

Proctor and Gamble producing Old Spice Shaving Soap again simply isn't going to happen.

Besides, even if they were willing to produce it (and I assure you they have zero interest) attempting to coordinate a group buy for 1.5 million (30,000 x 50) pucks of Old Spice Shaving Soap would be a logistics nightmare.:lol:

I'd be in for 75 pucks! :lol::lol::lol:

I'd love to see the old OS soap make a triumphant return to the shelves of a drug store near me, but I think I'm more likely to be forcibly carried off by a colony of scantily clad supermodels to be used as breeding stock.

P&G contracts out the OS name to a Canadian outfit for the canned foam they sell, and it's awful.

I'm pretty sure that if they did decide to jump in on the wetshaving market with nostalgia themed Old Spice products, what we would get would be something akin to modern Williams, with the addition of one part per billion OS scent, but they'd throw in something like a microchip that played a bad MIDI of the OS whistle when you first opened the cardboard box.

Old Spice shaving soap from the license holder is as dead as Elvis, and even if they brought it back it would be in a form that was to the original that a bunch of Elvis impersonators singing "Love Me Tender" while doing a laser enhanced synchronized swimming routine would be to the King in his prime.

Maybe there's a former Shulton employee or two out there that has knowledge of the original formula etc. Then P&G is out of the equation entirely, it is obvious that they are whoring out the Old Spice brand for body washes, deodorants etc, but leaving us wetshavers in the lurch by fiddle farting around with the packaging, and some say the formula of Old Spice aftershave, not to mention that they killed the shaving soap.

Yeah, but if it were up to you, which would you choose? Take as much time as you need.

Well,
it was a thought!

I am currently using Mama Bears OS shave soap, but it does not smell anything like the OS pucks did. It smells like OS (the cologne /after shave) The OS pucks had a great smell somewhere between their fragrance and a clean soapy smell....aaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Just for laughs, I am going to contact P & G and see what they say. You guys are probably correct, and they most likely won't even respond to my letter, but I'll give it the "old college try" anyway. If anything positive ever comes of it I'll let you know.

I expect they'll respond, as they know customer service is important, but they'll send along some coupons for current products and suggest that you'll be happier with the stuff they make now.

You might want to check out a puck of the Prairie Creations version. I've heard it's pretty close.....

Haha, wow that just sounds very Third Reich. The over-the-top comparisons remind me of Dennis Miller.
