Great shaves doing this

I've mentioned this before, but I was wondering if other members also do this? When I shave, which is an average of 2 or 3 times a week, I'm retired so I can get away with doing this. My beard is quite heavy so I usually do my first pass, which is a combo of WTG and XTG, with my DE razor. I use either my R41 or my Merkur slant. Then I do my second pass, a combo of ATG and XTG, with my straight. The resulting shave is always at least a DFS and often a BBS. I find doing this allows me to do a bit faster shave by using the DE for that first pass. Then the tough stubble is gone and the straight pass is very smooth, and usually nick and cut free. This works great for me, and I was wondering if any other members do the same? :confused1

This was recommended by Larry in my Poor man's kit. I have to do two WTG passes to have enough reduction for XTG. It does make life easier while learning technique.
