How to use transparent shaving gels when doing multiple passes?

Hi everyone! I just recently bought L3VEL 3 shaving gel Aqua from a salon store, and I would like to try it out when shaving. It's non-lathering and it's a transparent shaving gel, so I'm really excited to try it! I'm wondering though how I can use it when doing multiple passes rather than just one?

Do I need to reapply transparent shaving gel when doing multiple passes? Or do I only just apply it once, and during multiple passes I just apply water on my shave area where the transparent shaving gels that I apply are still active and don't need to re-apply?

I always re-applied the gel between passes. I found it helped with slickness and it definitely for me, made the shave much more enjoyable.

That makes a lot of sense!

And what about a brushless shaving cream (Cremo, Kiss My face, etc.) that is similar to non-lathering transparent shaving gels but is made out of creams rather than gels? I heard that a person does not need to re-apply them but instead add water to "reactivate" them during multiple passes. :001_huh:

That is possible. Everyone has their own way of doing things. I have tried to lather up some brushless creams and they don’t make a great lather. They still worked but I pretty much wasted my time trying to use a brush and a bowl. Personally I would just re-apply the cream. Some of them don’t take much to make it slick enough to shave and you wouldn’t be using much anyway.

Just try re-activating with a bit of water first. It may help if you have applied a little bit of extra gel around the edges, so to speak. If that is not working well, just apply a little more gel. You probably don't need to add much.

I have used L3 a few times and it seems to work fairly well if it doesn't get too dry. I use a little sprayer to help keep it wet and slick. I usually use two passes. After the first pass, I spread the residual product around and then apply some more. For me it seems to help prevent irritation from the second pass which is against the grain.
