Got myself some Kent (MWF) shavign soap in wooden bowl

Hi ,

Got just myself some Kent (MWF) shavign soap in a wooden bowl , looking forward to using it after hearing great things about this soap and how moisturising it is, however one thing I have heard is that it drys out easily , I really want to use the wooden bowl provided as its a really nice bowl, was thinking of wrapping the soap in cling film after use to keep it from drying out, what do you guys suggest? Thanks

Hi! No need to worry about a hard soap becoming "dry", MWF will still work just as well.

If you're truly set on getting it moistened before loading, do like many around here and place an approx tsp of tap water on the puck a few minutes before your shave.

Enjoy your new soap!

+2 to the above suggestion.

Also, once you have loaded your brush, put the lid back on instead of waiting until the end of your shave. This will help to somewhat preserve the moisture in the soap.

Thanks for the replies , I have tried the soap and unfortunately I have to say i am not a fan, very hard to lather (maybe as i am in hard water area) and the lather dried out very quickly however much water I added, spent more time lathering than shaving:( however I will give it another go , is this a feature of tallow based soaps or is it just mwf that is hard to lather? I would like to try Tabac shaving soap at some point but a little wary after trying the MWF

i too found it a bit hit and miss when it comes lathering so i made shave sticks from it and worked much better

See below comment.

This confirms that the soap:water ratio is important to get right. Once you do, MWF is awesome!

I also found face lathering works pretty good with this soap. When more water is required slighty dip the tips of brush into the sink of water..

Kent version of MWF in wooden bowl is lovely stuff. Soft water in Melbourne means I've never had lathering issues with it.
