I hadn't been overly concerned with getting a birth year (quarter) razor, but I recently picked one up for a pretty good price. After reading recommendations here, I sent it to Chris Spencer at Back Roads Gold for tune up & palladium replating. I couldn't be happier with the result and fast turn-around.

I’m jealous of that beautiful razor, but not as much as I am of your birth year! I was 13 when the Slim went into production. I’ve heard good things about the service you used and plan to have a razor or two done myself.

That looks fantastic! The price for that replate was quite reasonable.
I can't tell the difference between nickel and palladium. I just got a Proback handle in Palladium back from Chris. It matches the nickel Old Type head perfectly.

The colors are virtually identical, but the palladium has a little better wear resistance, and the price was the same as nickel.
How could this company make money charging $65 including shipping? The razor looks amazing.
