What's new

Gornik & Drucker

I'm curious if anyone has experience with their No. 9 Shave Cream. I ordered some last Thursday, but I've yet to be contacted about shipping rates. Why no pre-determined rates, who knows. I'm in no hurry to get it so if I have to wait a few days, whatever. The way I figure it, any barber who's given service to the likes of Ronald Reagan, Frank Sinatra, Clark Gable and Bugsy Siegel should have a good idea on how to make a good cream.

The shop is right down the block from my office, if they quote you something ridiculous for shipping I'd be happy to pick it up and send out to you

Well after more than a week, two ignored emails and a debit card payment that was never taken, I think I'll take you up on your offer. PM sent.

I'm posting an update here because I deemed it more fitting than starting a whole new thread, but the shave cream surprisingly appeared on my doorstep today. I backed out of taking up Jessiex on his offer to buy locally and ship to me and had completely written off this shop. But alas G&D came through, albeit two months late. Also included were samples of shampoo, conditioner, cocoa butter, and a hand-written apology attributing the long delay to a family emergency. I haven't tried the shave cream yet and I'm not in a rush to do so, only because I need to finish up my tube of Rasoline first. I will say upfront that it's a soap-based cream which I was kind of hoping that it wasn't (though I'd figured I'd probably be wrong), but that's strictly personal preference. This slightly iridescent, very soft cream has a faint and pleasing medicinal/mint aroma to it, and I think that you expert latherers out there will likely be pleased with this product.

That's all I have to report. I'll get around to giving this cream a spin eventually, I just wanted to give G&D a fair shake since they did after all, finally deliver to a customer.

A few months late is better than never, especially if a family situation caused the delay. Report on the cream when you have the opportunity.
