Goodbye Rubbish Muhle R41 Handle...

... hello UFO 'Godzilla' replacement.

I was never comfortable using my R41, I couldn't grip the handle like i wanted to, and as a result, always felt uncomfortable during the shave, especially as the handle gets very slippery in my opinion. So Friday night, I Googled 'handles for a Muhle R41' and found an old B&B thread which suggested using a Weber bulldog handle. So I promptly ordered one, and hope to have it in the next 14 days.

Before logging off though, I happened to browse another wetshaving forum I frequent and saw someone advertising a UFO 'Godzilla' handle, and that too fits the R41 head. Well, I bought it, it came today, and as you can see from the pics, I'm glad I did. Beautiful handle, very solid feeling (103grams in weight so should be) and fits the head like a glove.

Nice!
I too am awaiting a proper UFO handle for my R41. The 'stock' handle the R41 came with is rather useless w.r.t. knurling and weight.

Sweet! I have the UFO Kaiser on hand and a UFO Goliath XL that should be here any day. They are great handles in every measurable way.

I like the stock handle for what it is, but the bulldog is on its way. I would really like a ufo handle I just havent found a good way to go about getting one.

Cheers chaps, I'm very happy with this buy. You just know it's a quality piece when it's in hand.

Yes, that handle is sweet! You should post the pic of the Cert of Auth in the BOTOC thread...all would like to see that! Very cool.

Wow, that is a serious handle! Looks nice. And you get an arm workout and a shave at the same time.

I haven't had any issue with the standard handle but I tend to prefer more weight and length. I have an R41 grande on the way.

Thanks for the replies, and a big thanks for the links above. Used it for the first time yesterday, and it made all the difference. Effortless shave. I think having more confidence in my razor handle allowed me just to concentrate on the shave itself.

Would recommend.

The "artisan" handles are nice. I hope to buy one some day. In the meantime, I've got a EJ DE89 with the barley chrome handle. I simply use it on my 2010 R41 and find it a really nice combo.

I am using a Weber Bulldog on my R41 right now. I have some e-mails in with UFO for a Goliath and a custom, but they are on vacation. I'll probably see those in a couple months when they can make them and ship them over. I think the added weight of the handle helps me get a zero pressure shave with the R41 much easier. Can't wait to see what the really big handles do, if anything, that the Weber Bulldog isn't doing.
