Nice find lol! Can't believe NYT still archives from 1990 online.

NYT archives from the 19th century. A few years back, I found a tongue-in-cheek letter to the editor from my great-grandfather that had been written around 1890.

Nice find but I wonder?

"The traditional shaving brush should be stroked up and down - moving it in a circle weakens the bristles"

and

''All you need to do is rinse with warm water,'' says Dr. Sherman. ''The idea that pores open and have to be closed is a myth. Pores are always the same size.''

"Circular movements weakens the brush" - http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=18952
~My opinion is do what you like, so what if it weakens and dies after 5-10 years, another justifiable excuse for AD to kick in.

"Pores opening and closing for bizness myth" - http://health.howstuffworks.com/skin-care/cleansing/myths/pores-in-hotter-water.htm
~Heat does break down facial oils and grim faster.

This WORRIES ME MOST!!!:

"Even men without specific problems can make grooming more comfortable by renouncing what Dr. Sherman calls ''the perfect shave,'' a goal usually pursued by wielding the razor both in and against the direction of the hair. In the latter instance, a man literally shaves his skin, promoting irritation and ingrown hairs.

''The average man always wants to shave until he can't feel anything at all on his face,'' observes Milton Pitts, owner of Pitts Hair Stylist in Washington. ''If you shave that close, it's too close.''

..."
