Gonna Refurb an Ever-Ready Brush?

Note to self - the corkscrew idea didn't pan out well...... :0)

I figured the pix might be helpful to someone - it's not every day you get to see a cut-away shot of a vintage brush .. :0).

Looks like I'll need to locate another Ever-Ready 200 so I can pull the black/top part off. Grrrrrrr....

so long as it came apart in large enough pieces, you could clear the rest of the knot out and epoxy the handle back together. I seem to remember that certain paints (possibly acrylic) mix readily with epoxy, so it could be a seamless repair (with enough elbow-grease)

Yep - would be possible but totally not worth the effort in my opinion.

I'll find another similar brush and pull the top off it... luckily they're not hard to find.

That's what the cross-section of an old Erksine brush looks like too . I drilled out most of the knot and attempted to chisel out the rest with a flat-head screwdriver, and then.... crack! :mad3:

I'm gonna let Rudy Vey do my next one.

I've done a bunch of these - But - I wanted to see if I could use a corkscrew on this one.

Why? I'm like that - I like to try stuff. Sometimes it doesn't work out though.

Normally - I start with a drill then finsih with a dremel.
If this knot wasn't set with such rigid adhesive the corkscrew would have been ok I think. This stuff was like ceramic... no give - so the outer part just let go.
Looks bad here but it's not a big deal. I've swapped tops before. I just need to find one now. Heh... when you look for something specific it's harder to find I think...

And - almost ready for lather now... think I'll wait till tomorror though.
It's driving me crazy - I reaaalllllyyy want to get into this one.
Patience - is a virtue... yeah yeah yeah... one day won't kill me.
