Gold Toggle tops $1000

Wow, it still has the tissue paper wrapped around it. Now that is true NOS.

I bet the seller was a bit surprised by that outcome.

I may have pulled the trigger, good thing i wasnt looking.

Arrgh, too many rules here. Post deleted.

Not a big deal... There's a couple of reasons for it. For one, it prevents the seller from "shilling" his auction, but also, there may be other B&B members bidding and we don't want a post here to start a bidding war between members who might jump in on impulse. Ya, the serious collectors likely know about it.

Yeah, that's a good point. I can see how it could cause problems here. Thanks for letting me know.

I was thinking the same thing. It may have cost him a hundred bucks for leaving out the word "adjustable," and maybe a couple of hundred for not using the word "toggle."

I seriously doubt anything got left on the table. It has the two key buzzwords "vintage" and "Gillette" in the title, which is how I think most people search to find the most listings. Even though the words are reversed in the title, good 'ol eBay search algorithms will pull it up with a search for "vintage Gillette".

Rich, now i get what you meant on the PM you sent me. I dint see the deleted post on time.

Wow thats was pretty pricey, ive seen them in this condition without the outershipper box go for much less?

I have one with price tag outer case and soft inner case but but paid about $350.00 for it. Seems that outer shippet box sold for an extra $700.00 ? Unless its a 1-5 rare toggle?

I didnt read the listing as im having ebay issues via my phone at the moment :eek:/

Don't get me wrong, that is a really nice razor. But, I would never pay that much for ANY razor. In my opinion, that is ridiculous!
There are collectors out there and then there are Toggle and Bottom Dial Fanatics and they are in a leauge of there own, just trust me on this ;o)

I don't think that's quite the right way to look at it. A razor that is is truly NOS (as this appears to be) is in a whole different category even from the most minty of used razors. Sure, there are a few mint condition Toggles around, but how many NOS sets have you ever seen?

There are a lot of deep-pocketed collectors out there who don't even begin to blink at these prices.
