Going to buy a hone.

I have read all the stickys here and searched for some honing stones. I found a Naniwa value pack straighrazordesigns and was wondering what you guys thought about that set for someone who has never honed befor. It comes with 5000 8000 and 12000 grit stones.

Add a 1k to that and you should be set.

Personally - I'd go with a 1,3,8,12k set.

How about one of those 3k/8k combos? Some of those are still kicking around. And ending on 8k will let you know if your stropping is up to snuff or not. ;-)
