Glycerin question

I am kind of feeling the difference between a shave with or without glycerin. Now my question would be how much exaclty in mililiters should I use?
Also, I was unable to get an answer from the drugstore, as what they have as lab glycerin is or not vegetal. Anyone can help me with this? What type do they usually have?
And since it feels a bit too greasy, does there exist any substitute?

Also, is the method shaving paste glycerin based? Is it working combined with normal shaving cream/soap? Does it make the face greasy as well?

When making Uberlather I add from three to five drops of liquid glycerin - not mms. As far as I know most glycerin today if vegetable based.

Don't use glycerin without adding water to it. If used in moderation it attracts moisture to your face.

I use pure vegetable glycerin as a pre-shave. I wash my beard, leave wet, apply a few drops of glycerin to my beard and lather immediately. As Jim mentioned it improves lather if mixed.

I see, but just for the sake of exactness, what is the exact reason for combining it with water first, isn't enough the water from the shaving brush?
Should I take all my glycerin and combine it with distilled water? Does this affect it in any way? What is the percentage of water/glycerin? Does water cuts down its "greasiness"?

Drops from pipette?

The method shaving paste is like a thin clay, almost. I don't think it has glycerin in it.

What soap are you using that you feel doesn't have glycerin in it?

I am using at the moment a combination of Proraso sensitive soap, and Palmolive shaving cream(classic).

The thing is that the Proraso is getting more water, but it runs down easier on the face. When I add the cream it feels much nicer and slicker, protecting better, but is also so much more drier after a bit. When I added glycerin was really awesome, but I added 2 ml with a syringe, and I think was way too much. I had for 2 days the feeling that my face is greasy, no matter how much I washed my face with soap, which usually dries my face. Not no mention that besides the greasy face, I also got my hair much less coarse for the next shave. The next time I shaved, I added 1 ml only, and it still felt a bit greasy, but not that much.

Glycerin absorbs water from the air. For example, if you leave a bottle of glycerin uncapped and open, it would take moisture from the air and would become diluted. If you take 100% glycerin and apply it to your face, very likely you will get a burn. However, if you add a lot of water to the glycerin your skin will feel much softer.

There is enough water from the shaving brush and water to make a good lather so that you don't have to add any additional water. Do not combine the water and glycerin. Rather, just add a few drops to the soap or cream. It doesn't matter what kind of water you are using and how you get the drops from the container to your lather. In the states our glycerin comes in a bottle that opens in a way that you can add a few drops of glycerin to the mixture. If your glycerin does not contain such a device you can use any device such as a pipette or eye dropper to add the glycerin.

Very detailed answer, I very much appreciate that.

However, the results with exactly 4 drops of glycerin were not that nice, and my face still felt dry, actually too dry, and considering that I am very exact with how moist my lather is, I have absolutely no idea why I get this result. Probably I should stop combining my soap with palmolive cream, and try only glycerin instead.

But another idea crossed my mind, how about if I combine some shaving paste with a soap, how wet would my face be? Would that work fine? Are they compatible? Anyone tried it?
