What's new

Glenmorangie Astar

I tried various ways to start this but, really, all I can say is "Damn that is a good drop".

Finished in specially selected bourbon casks made from oaks grown in the Ozarks this whisky has vanilla, toffee and fudge notes on the nose and is a really smooth drink. Even SWMBO, who does not like whisky, sniffed the empty glass and liked the aroma.

I like all the speciality wood finishes from Glenmorangie but this has gone to the top of my picks. This is one of the whiskies my house will always have.

I haven't tried this particular Glenmorangie but now you've convinced me to give it a try, not that's very hard to do with scotch.

Glenmorangie did a nice overall on their line of scotch. I've tried their sauterne cask and sherry cask finished scotch and both are very good, imo. Currently, I am about halfway through a bottle of the sherry cask scotch. I'll have to try the Aster as the tasting notes remind me of the Highland Park 18 year old.

I found it very pleasant too. BTW, the Astar formula is the heart of the new "Original" bottling too. And you can get that one for a good bit cheaper!

Figures. I go to the liquor store and they don't have the Astar so I picked up another bottle of the LaSanta which is matured in sherry casks.

Maybe next time.

"Got Shoes?"
Ever since I saw this this thread, I have been trying to obtain a bottle of the Glenmorangie Astar. Well, I just got a call from my local store. I asked him to order me a bottle and it is in. Took awhile but I get there eventually.

I had Glenmorangie Signet! Very chocolatty smell and after teast! Great buy, if you can find on sale! Not worth the full price though!
