What's new

Gleem Toothpaste.

So I was at the Dollar Tree with my Dad and I picked up some Gleem Toothpaste because it looked super vintage and it said it was distributed by Proctor and Gamble...found out this is a serious old time toothpaste! Man, I'm really rockin' it out with my Brylcreem and Gleem!

It's pretty much like any other minty toothpaste. Works for me, especially for a buck. It's like 6oz, too.

Check out The Dollar Tree, they had a million in my area. Also, I've hear 99 cent stores have it, too.

Never was a Gleem guy, but I'd sure like to run across a tube of Ipana-- particularly if Bucky Beaver was prominently displayed on the box!

Just got back, and now have Gleem and Prell, Gleem at dollar tree, Prell at Albertsons. I re discovered Brylcreem a while back on a whim and am glad I did, just a small amount on towel dried hair and it holds all day, plus I love that I can re comb my hair at the end of the day and its like combing it wet. Just have to be careful on amount depending on your hair as it is bees wax based, my barber also said its great stuff. Havent had this much fun since I used these products as a boy in the 1960's when they were state of the art. Think I will get me some candy cigarettes next. Bonus with Brylcreem is you get that light Don Draper sheen!

I'll have to find Prell, never seen it ANYWHERE though. Glad you found Gleem. I'm all into this old time stuff, and it's usually the cheapest stuff, too! Can't beat that. I usually use Brylcreem when I don't need as much hold, but want my hair looking shiny and such.

Ah, I think it's great stuff! Get it at Walgreen's, Rite Aid, some grocery stores. The Cream rinse is sometimes a little harder to find but I really like it. A comedian ( Raphie May)got me to start using it again.

You still use Prell?
Wow... haven't seen that in 30+ years.

I got it at Albertsons, so I imagine if you check out major grocery stores or places like Target, it may be there, also Wal Mart is known to carry it, otherwise google it and Im sure you will find a supplier like drugstore.com

Hmm I'll look around, thanks guys! Glad you like the Gleem, I started this more as a joke to the obscure product I now use but am glad it helped

Brylcreem is no joke, lol, and I love retro products, especially when they are better than the new stuff, I can be a good resource as I grew up with this stuff, remember my dad using "butch wax" as he had a flat top in the 60's, he used DE until the "miracle" of trac II which came as a free sample in a can as a tester razor to get you hooked on it. He thinks I have gone back to the dark ages.

Brylcreem is DEFINITELY no joke! Tell me, is this shampoo noticeably better than other stuff? How is it for hair volume, etc.?

Will tell you tomorrow, but like Brylcreem, has cool retro smell, cant wait to use it tomorrow morning, alcohol free, so wont dry hair anyway.Interesting story, I went to my barber on Friday, this is a small town, we are talking like Floyds in Mayberry, one chair shop with the spinning pole and all, building is from the 1920's, he told me a few days earlier, one of our US Senators walked in (He has pic on wall to prove it) Senator was on freeway heading back from Oregon's capitol in Salem and wanted a haircut and googled for barber, saw good ratings for this tiny shop and came in, well off the beaten path of freeway, blew my barbers mind!

That's awesome! Let me know how it is, I love the scent of Brylcreem and Groom and Clean so I can handle a nice classic scent!

Will do, I'm looking forward to it, will probably report back early afternoon tomorrow, (your time) labor day tomorrow, so not in a hurry to get up!
