Gillette Twist To Open TTO 1957 Chrome Flare Tip Review

Nice find and it looks to be in very nice shape. If the finish is original, which I'd expect it to be, the finish is Nickel, not chrome as the eBay ad says. It is every bit as durable as Chrome, but has a warmer tone. Hold the super speed next to your EJ, which is chrome. You should be able to tell a noticeable difference in the color. The EJ should be brighter and "whiter" in it's shine as opposed to the nickel. I prefer nickel myself, but that's all subjective.

Congrats.

I was really impressed that it opens and closes so smoothly for being almost over 50 years old...

Shaved again this morning with it and BBS shave... Hopefully it last me another 50 years... :)

I recently picked up a '56 flare tip and gave my '66 flare tip to a buddy of mine. Now he's a convert. You can't beat the old classics!

Nice razor! I also picked up a brand new condition 1964 model. Still haven't used it since I've been using my Gillette Slim, but eventually i'll give it a go.

Very nice! I'm hoping I just scored a gold one..been snookered before so we'll see;)

Got a '57 myself, it's over 50 years old, for my B.Y. razor. They shave wonderfully, I PIFed one with other gear to get my oldest son started, his is a 60's and he loves it. We love Astras in it, he doesn't much care for Merkur blades in it.

Very nice pick up, I love vintage razors I once got a steal on the bay for a Gillette 1959 E1 Fatboy adjustable mint condition case and all. I never got too used to adjusting and well it fell out of favor in my rotation, SO I cleaned it up and found it a new home on the bay...neat little return on it too $101 that helped with a bill for sure...though kinda miss it now and then it was a very nice razor...
