Gillette Red Tip

I recently purchased a fine piece from Ebay. It is great condition with a little brassing under the folding hinges. After sanitizing, I popped in my favorite blade (Shark-super), lathered up, and had the best shave of my brief DE safety razor life.

Ive only tried a couple of different razors, (Merkur 23, Feather plastic) but a few different blades; I think I am ready to sing the Red Tip song.

I am able to re-lather and make many passes with this combo (Proraso tube cream) and I get one awesome shave. This is after a month of cutting my face up (at work...they say..."Sarge what happened?"). A little splash of Speick or Musco, a tiny hit of King Talc, and I am ready to roll.

Thanks for all the awesome reviews for items here...it allowed me to purchase the top rated stuff.

Since I have many boxes of blades, is it common to collect them? I was thinking about giving it a go...collect the boxes (5 or 10 containers with the blades inside), there seem to be so many different designs that it would look great in a shadow box hanging on the wall. What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Maybe a "wall of shame" blade display. People would ask about it and you could say "those are all the blades that I have deemed unfit for shaving a gentlemanly gentleman's face", and then give a look of disdain.:biggrin1:

I've created a nice display with old blades in their wrapper set into an old picture frame.

Vintage blade wrappers come up on the bay often and usually at a low price.

The old picture frame I bought at a thrift store. Looks nice for very little coin.

Even my wife likes it!!!

I also enjoy my Red Tip - wait to you try it with a real nice blade like a Persona Red, Perma Sharp or Persona Medical Prep !
