Gillette Fusion TV Ad.

Anyone else seen the TV ads. for Fusions comparing a "blade change" to getting your car serviced? Might just be for UK market.

I know it's not really relevant, now that I've left the "dark side". However, I do wonder about them pushing the message that as soon as the lube strip fades from blue you should change the cartridge. I never really noticed before, that the lube strip comes after the blades...therefore, it's surely not really an issue if you've got decent lather (difficult I know with "goo in a can")

It's on over here as well, been seeing it quite frequently during basketball games.

Barbasol also has one on a lot. Shows a guy driving a Barbasol semi and when he gets home there's a note and candles waiting for him. Quick shot of him shaving before he falls into the loving arms of his SWMBO does show he's using some kind of DE razor and not a cartridge.

its a big way to make money i think.
when i used to shave with the fusion the blue turned to white after 2 shaves...
no way in hell would i change that every 2 days. i'd lose hundreds of dollars a month haha maybe thousands...

I've seen the add. The lube strip is probably for those that don't re-lather with each pass. I recently used a Mach3 which also has this strip. Shaves great for 2 maybe three shaves then needs replacement. DE blades shave great for 2/3 shaves then need replacement. Only DE blades are a fraction of the price. No contest.

Back to the ad, it's a great way for them to make more more. Perhaps they are losing out to the multitudes turning to DE and Straight shaving.

It's on TV here as well.

I think I get it now. If you are not satisfied with your shave (I guess most people aren't), then something comes along that supposedly will make it better, such as: more blades, vibrating handle, new kind of gel/pre/post treatment, and now the "change your blades more often" technique. You go and try it, and if you get any discernible improvement, you will keep paying until the next "improvement" comes along. If you were satisfied with your shaving regimen to begin with, you wouldn't go for it so easily.

I am continuing my experiment with the M3, as described in a previous post. Today I went for it and did a 3-pass shave. The results were not as close as with the DE, and my skin doesn't look as good. If I didn't know DE razors, I would be tempted to change to something with 2 more blades in order to get a quicker and closer shave. But now I know better...

Its here in spain aswell,
kind of goes against their "shave for 1 euro a week" campaign,

but one of the problems with cartrige razors is that thanks to their high price, people keep insisting and use force to shave with it well after the cartrige is no longer in shaving condition,

i still tell my friends, the less blades, the better, but then people get pulled by shiney tech objects,

I was searching for that ad, and came across this- Is it a good idea to microwave shaving cream?

You're right. Their advertising is rather schizophrenic. On the one side, they have the $1/week campaign, which would work out to one cartridge per month. On the other, they're telling you to change blades faster for a better shave. It's a wonder that people don't see through it. Perhaps, they just don't realize there are options.

The campaign here is "shave for 1.5 euro a week". Maybe the beards are tougher this side of the border :tongue_sm.

If now $1 = 0.72€, why do we need to spend twice as much as our friends across the Atlantic? And earn much less?

Oh wait, I was trying to apply logic to advertising... sorry .

Wait, the guy comes home and his wife is waiting for him in the bedroom....with pancakes?? Did I imagine that??

Nope, watched it again, at :23 as she's lighting the candles, you can clearly see a stack of pancakes on the table.

:lol::lol::lol:

ive seen the ad, i liked the fact they used a mechanic, a group of people (no offence to anyone) who have a reputation for adding in extra charges and replacing what doesnt need to be. anyone else notice what seems to be a slim adjustable and a brush in the photos in the background?

Well, you have to add in the VAT. That's about 15%? So now you're up to 0.82€ - just curious, what do Fusion cartridges go for across the pond?
