gillette big ben

I don't see the gillette logo anywhere.
It's a common and unfortunate practice for careless sellers to label any double edge (and sometimes single edge ) razor a gillette.

It may say "Big Ben" however what conserns me, is the fact I have a Souplex razor (also made in England) that has the same box, I've read and it seems boths companies were owned by the same people. If this is the case, then I would say that this is just another case of a wrongly named razor.

Ozzy, I also have the same set as you, including Souplex blades so it sure looks like a close cousin.

From the Waits Compendium:

"Big Ben

Mfr. unidentified (possibly Souplex). England.
Double edge, Gillette-type, chromium plated,
comb guard, thin cap, two studs, hexagonal
handle. Black or brown shallow plastic case
with slanted front corners. Big Ben slotted
double-edge blades. One example nearly
identical to Souplex (Gillette-type, comb
guard, ribbed handle, nickle-plated) in flat
black plastic hexagonal case."

There is a picture with the razor in the case. The inside of the case lid says BIG BEN in an oval. It appears to be the same razor and case as your picture.

Regards,
Tom
