Gillette adjustable maintenance..

Greets, I poured some CLR down the hole on the head of my slim and let it soak up to the handle for 30 minutes or so; it seemed to loosen up the TTO mechanism a bit and it turns smoother now.. How 'smoothly' should the TTO doors and the bottom knob turn, and how many users do any sort of preventive maintenance on their gillette adjustables?

I do. keep clean and oiled with horn oil. that is oil used to keep the musical instruments free moving. Send PM if you want the actual name of the oil. I can't remember, my brain is going on vacation.

CLR might be a little harsh. I had a slim adjustable and dunked the head into some CLR and it wiped clean my numbers. The adjustment should be smooth with an audible click as you adjust. The TTO mechanism should be smooth also. If it squeaks put a little baby-oil or mineral oil a drop or two.
