GFT Sandalwood soap...light fragrance?

Huh?!

This is my second GFT soap, after coconut. The coconut puck had a wonderful, deep and full aroma that was moderately strong. My new puck of sandalwood, just unwrapped, smells like....soap. Just a light soapy fragrance. Is this the way it's supposed to be?

Mine only has a light fragrance too, it is subtle, but pleasant, and definately sandlewood.

I think once you start lathering it up the scent gets stronger. It may have slightly dissipated near the edges--I have a Violet that was very understated at first that definitely got more pronounced upon a lather or two.

Oh yes, the lather had a more pronounced aroma when I shaved just now. A dry, fresh, somewhat powdery sandal scent. Seems to be the typical English take on sandalwood. But I quite like it. It's very pleasant and traditional.

Its a great soap. Your right - it does smell a little like soap soap - first time I smelt it I thought it might also have something wrong.
But its a great scent. I love it!
