Getting Proraso Out of Tube

One of my favs is Proraso in a green tube. However, I have noticed that it is very difficult to squeeze it out of the tube. Anyone have the same problem?

Get a tube key. I picked one up at L'Occitane a few years back. I don' know if they still sell them, but you'll find them elsewhere.

It looks a bit like a metal key, but instead of teeth it has a slot. Put the end of the tube into the slot and use the top of the key to twist from the end. They work great and you'll get everything out of the tube.

I've never heard such a thing.
What exactly is your problem?

I picked up a couple from Crabtree and Evelyn a while back. I think they were around 3 bucks a piece.

You just squeeze the tube and it comes out. That's the way tubes work.

seems he means he cannot get the last of the cream from the tube

I also brought mine from C&E. They are a little longer than the one's I had for a toothpaste tube and rolled the shave cream tube much easier.

I'm sure it is some kind of obsessive compulsive thing. I roll my socks before I put them away, roll my clothes when packing for trips, and am still waiting for Roller Derby to be a demonstration sport in the summer Olympic Games.

Tube keys at Sally's are $1 and change; they're in the same fashion as the keys from Crabtree sans the pretty design.

Sounds like the expression "roll with it" has a special significance for you? And I'm guessing you're a big fan of this Steve Winwood song this Steve Winwood song

When some creams are exposed to higher/lower than room temperatures, the cream sets up and is difficult to get out of the tube. I think that's the OP's problem.

Alas, I don't remember the fixes - some creams respond to being exposed to lower/higher temperatures (opposite of what originally caused the problem), but some are just hosed for being restored.

If that's not the case, and it's just more difficult for the metal tubes than the plastic tubes, a big +1 on tube keys. C&E sells them as well.

I have personally had the opposite problem - I would open the tube, and it would ooze out instantly. I squirted it all out into an Anchor Hocking glass bowl with a lid.

I do find metal tubes a bit tougher in the sense that they aren't as easy to squeeze, but I'm a compulsive end-squeezer, so perhaps if you just grip it and rip it, it's easier. A tube key would certainly help with this, but I just emptied the sucker out all in one go, so no problems :001_rolle

Get a container with a lid and cut the tube open and dig it out.

The cream in my tube requires much effort to get it going. I just cut the tube open and squeezed out everything into an empty T&H container and problem solved.

I just make a fold the end of the tube and keep doing it until I run out of cream. I do the same thing with toothpaste so that I get as much out of the tube as possible.

Here in Portugal, L'Occitane stores still sell that tube key. :001_smile Although usefull, it is somewhat expensive. :tongue_sm

3 solutions:

-get the Proraso 500 ml plastic tube, barber's size.
-cut the tube with a scissor, it can be done in 3 times
-buy the tub option, maybe?

I know that you solved your problem but here's what I do when I get to the end.

It doesn't work very well with a metallic tube but it works. I leave the cap on and I hold the tube at each end. I have a square counter in the bathroom and I use it to go from the end of the tube and push the lather down towards the cap. Don't push it too hard, otherwise you will get the problem below. I do the same with toothpaste.
