Getting a straight shave

Hey there,

My wife wants to get me a straight shave on our upcoming weekend away, the only thing is she says it'll be done with a disposable straight, etc... I assume this is the only way you could get this done these days, right?

Thanks

Hi Munx,

Yes and No. It depends on where you live. In some countries and/or states around the world, straight-shaving is illegal because of fears over the transmission of disease. In places like that, only shavettes (razors with replaceable blades) are allowed. In other places, though, legislation allows barbers to do it the old-fashioned way, with an actual straight-razor.

According to wikipedia it is only legal in Ontario, go to the modern use section last paragraph on the last line. Also look up Rasage Poulin in Alberta, he has some great products on straights and accessories.

Oh I've been there and I've got stuff for at home. Was looking more to find out if this was it for barbershop straight shaving experience. I know it's not so much about the hardware as it is about the experience, but would still be cool to have it done with the "real" stuff, you know?
