I agree, mama bears soaps are very inexpensive yet great quality.
VDH Deluxe wasn't my cup of tea. I wasn't getting good protection out of it, so the last time I used it, I timed myself and loaded the brush for two whole minutes to make sure I was using enough product (the dish I was loading in was overflowing with lather), and still the soap wasn't protective. I can get an okay shave with it, but I have to shave very slowly with the lightest touch humanly possible. If I'm doing anything more than just barely touching the blade to my face, I get weepers and irritation (especially when shaving ATG). Finally, I said enough is enough and threw the soap back in the plastic container it came in. Haven't touched it for a few weeks.
I'm into the Proraso right now. It works great! It's worth every penny!
A puck of VDH Deluxe has finally made it back into my rotation. My first thought after yesterday's shave was, "What a great lather." I read this thread today and can't comprehend the difficulty many are having, which just goes to prove the old adage, Your Mileage May Vary (YMMV).
