Friend is going to Italy...

A friend of mine is going to Italy because he is Italian and wants to celebrate Chirstmas with his family. I asked him to buy some Proraso stuff for me, because it is much cheaper there and you can buy it everywhere.
Should I only ask for Proraso or is there something else I should try from Italy?

If he's going to Florence, have him stop by the Santa Marian Novella shop. I don't know how much have there that you can't get here, but I understand it costs a whole lot less. Otherwise, I agree with the Floid recommendations. It's getting impossible to find stateside.

I would vote for Bolzano razor blades. There is also a line of shaving creams under the name "prep" that I understand is pretty good. Completely not available here though. That would be good just to get since it is forbidden...

Definitely, although the pictures I've seen of it make it appear to be a Martelli made product, so I've often wondered how similar it is to the Proraso line. I'm certainly not stating anything as fact - just a curious thought I had.

Definitely Floid Regular and Blue. It's about 19€ in Italy. But costs over $50 per bottle if you can find it here. Awesome stuff.

My wife just came back from Rome and said it was actually not that easy to find wetshaving stuff! I wouldn't recommend the Acqua di Parma though...ain't worth the premium IMHO.

I need a bottle of Floid Regular.

I'll Paypal you $40 right now. :frown:

Pile up another $5 and you can buy it from here (shipping included):

AFAIK, you can login into ebay.it with your ebay.com credentials.

Hope that helps.

EDIT: However, $45 will buy you some very nice Made in USA after-shave. Support your local economy ;-) At the end of the day, Floid is just an utilitarian industrial product.

You can log on to ebay.it with your normal eBay account. I've tried buying from there and the sellers have backed out for some reason. I'm not sure what the problem with shipping that stuff is, but apparently it's not as easy as it seems it should be...

This internet site sells the Floid aftershave, both Spanish and Italian.

They sell some other interesting and hard to find stuff. Soaps and shaving sundries.

www.manufactum.co.uk

Search under shaving and enjoy.

Maybe that's because Italian postal service is deemed as unreliable, even for national destinations, and sellers fear negative feedbacks because of lost items. Some foreign sellers refuse to ship to Italy, too. Italian Ebay sellers therefore mostly rely on trackable services, but costs of such services for shipping overseas are stellar. They could deem the risk not being worth the hassle, to gain a few bucks. Maybe, if some US buyers arrange a collective wish-list of items, I could post a "Want to buy" ad on ebay.it and take care about communication with the seller (if it doesn't speak English). Let me know.

Spremino, are you in Italy? My sister is hosting a Spanish exchange student and I just met her a couple weeks ago. I was hoping she might have some Italian contacts, but no luck.

I'd be in on a group buy for some Floid if we could swing it.
