Fresh Cut Grass

I bought a body wash at a Lush store 2 weeks ago called Grass. I love the smell, it really smells like fresh cut grass. They don't make a companion cologne or aftershave. Anyone know of such a product with a similar fragrance?

The now discontinued Gap Grass and Editions de Parfums Vetiver Extraordinaire are two from my experience.

Typically vetiver based fragrances are going to have that fresh cut grass feel to them, but some are going to be dirtier than others and some will be soapier than others. My favorite for fresh cut grass is Creed Original Vetiver. A cheaper alternative would be Mugler's Cologne. Vetiver Extraordinaire is also excellent, but it's $$$$.

I always get a nice, grassy fragrance from anything with coumarin/tonka bean in it. It goes beyond just a scent--it really "feels" like cut grass. For me, this is the note in Wild Fern that makes me like it so much. You can run coumarin/tonka bean through the magic search engine over at Basenotes to find something you like.

I know it's out of place to say, but I've been ordered by my physician to loose weight few years ago. Sigh.
If you cut some cabbage into a tiny pieces and squeeze the salad with your hands you'll have the most beautiful fresh cut grass scent on the market in your home. Add some olive oil, salt and chilly peppers in it and you are on a good start for some mean low calories dinner.
Otherwise Hugo Boss Hugo is not that bad for a green scent.

Cabbage is better.

Nasomatto Hindu Grass smells vividly like fresh cut grass to me, then later becomes a deep patchouli scent.

I always thought that CK Truth had a nice cut grass type of smell. Terrible longevity though. I don't even know if it's still around.

If you're looking for a realistic facsimile, check out CB I Hate Perfume's Green Series. They have two titled "Grass" and "Wet Lawn" as well as "Hay", "Hedgerow", and several others.

While I don't recall sampling these, they have one called "Memory of Kindness" that is the exact scent of green tomato leaves in the garden. It's really amazing.

Vintage Vetiver by Guerlain. A funny thing happened our kids grew up, and all flew the nest. My wife, and I sold our house after being in it for oh I guess it was about 28, 29 years or so, and purchased a Condo unit. Now everytime I wear the vintage Guerlain Vetiver I swear it reminds me of cutting the grass in our old house, and I mean every single time. This fragrance can still be found, and is well worth the search.

Best Regards Ron

The aromachemical "Leaf Alcohol" imparts a huge fresh-cut grass accord (along with the petrol, industrial intensity of the lawnmower to go with it). If by any ridiculous chance someone lists this as an accord - try it! Still... a useless bit of knowledge to know :)

I said this in post #12 - it's Hexenol-3-cis. Since it's a single molecule, it's not an accord. It is cheap and easy to purchase. I have some, and it's the odor of cut grass, precisely.

I own a couple that makes me think of grass:

1. Carolina herrera 212 - very creamy grass scent
2. Creed Original Vetiver - very fresh grass scent
3. Mugler Cologne - almost the same as Creeed OV
4. Cartier Roadster Sport - a minty type of fresh grass scent
