What's new

*Frank Shaving Stainless Safety Razor

I'm sorry if there's already a thread like this, but I didn't find any when I searched.

Have anyone tried this (link)? Supposedly an all stainless TTO in two color variations (nickel and harcoal) weighing in at 55 grams.
They seem to have added a lot of new brushes to their inventory as well.

If I hadn't already spent so much lately I'd be all over the fan shape silvertip and this razor, but for the moment I'm waiting for one of you guys to jump on this and report back.:w00t:
6 have been sold so far, and I'm hoping on of you are reading this!
Two have left feedback as well, but say nothing about the razor itself.

I already know the brushes are top notch for the price (or so I've heard), but at this price point for a supposedly all stainless razor I'm worried QC is horrible, and that it might have issues with blade alignment and such.

Hmm... if it's nickel-plated, I wouldn't call it "all stainless". I believe I would also wait for someone else to try this.

Looks like a Weishi or a Vincent razor. I would be very surprised if it was indeed stainless steel. If it were me, I would spend a little more and get a vintage Gillette DE.

I already own four vintage Gillettes and counting, but this peeked my interest being "supposedly" (try counting how many times I've used that word in this thread) all stainless at this price.
In the pictures it doesn't look half bad IMO. You never know, it might be the best value ever in a DE, but probably not.

I had a nanjie that looked just like that. Liked the shave, but the materials and quality of construction was very very poor. If this is actually stainless steel, I want one. The price tells me this is too good to be true, though. All stainless steel tto razor for how much? I think it is much more likely that it is plastic, as one buyer of his claims his 'stainless steel' razor stand was.

"Beautifully made entirely of stainless steel, this is the new premium three piece razor from Frank Shaving.."

Well, they got that part wrong, so they might be wrong about the stainless steel as well.

I noticed that too. Where are the other 2

I think that they got it ALL wrong, even their infamous shaving brushes.

Maybe it becomes three piece after use?

I dunno about this. I think that it's quite possible to get a big bang for buck Chinese brush, seeing as I've read most knots are Chinese in origin, but there isn't any precedent for a well made TTO razor from that part of the world AFAIK.

Could be something new that's good. I'm open minded, as I have a Norinco made commander length M1911A1 that shoots like a champ!

Way to take one for the team, brother!

Are you going to shave with it, or just put a magnet to it?

I know, if it had "DE razor" in the description, I'd give it a go even if it was the ugliest looking rattletrap imaginable, just because I'd die of curiosity if I didn't!

I'll shave with just about anything.
But if this is the same plastic razor that it resembles, then I'll consider that task already done and ship it back for a refund. If it's really stainless then I'll probably order another.

A magnet won't work. Plated brass or pot metal is also non-magnetic. The only way to tell if it's stainless instead of plated metal is to take a file to it.

It looks like a Weishi/Weishi clone. If it is the good thing is that you won't get chopped up. Of course you won't get a particularly close shave either. :biggrin1:

I'm skeptical that it's stainless but the Chinese have amazed me several times before with what they can produce for a cheap price.

I sent the seller, "Ian", a pretty long message through eBay, basically summing up what's been said in this thread.
Will report back when I hear from him.

I'm with Topgumby! If you give the chinese specs and a demand list, they make what ya want. But look at the TT33 copies ypu will see some chinese junk. Some of their stuff is awsome, alot ssuuucccckkkkks! Just 2 pennies tossed sideway on an off day!

Hi,the body of razor is made of copper alloy, and others is made or stainless. steel. But this is not Weishi's razor which you saw before.

Thanks/Ian
I'm guessing that's a copper alloy head on a stainless steel handle, but I'll ask him to be more specific.
The way he said it sound's more like the head being stainless, I know, but I'm highly doubting that's the case, since a TTO head in stainless would be quite hard to manufacture.
