Welcome. I spent '75 to '77 at Ft Sill before overseas deployment. Use to love riding my motorcycle up Mt Scott. Got chased by a bison around there too. Good times. I collected a bunch of MOS's before I got out as an SF aidman.

Mt. Scott yes I remember that name. Was that the only hill in the area that you could see from the field sites?

I just found this Brotherhood! What a great idea for a club! U.S. Army from '98-04

Stationed in Germany in 99-02, I've had hot water freeze to my face. In Kosovo I've had a few shaves interrupted by mortar fire. Iraq saw dry shaving due to lack of water. Also sandstorms!

Never knew this forum existed.

Marine January 1975 to January 1978.

The closest I came to a fox hole was Marine Corp Boot Camp.

Had it pretty nice for being a Marine I had a Top Secret Clearance was stationed at:

Boot Camp San Diego MCRD. 3 months
Corry Station Pensacola Florida 9 months
Kaneohe Bay Hawaii 2 years, while in Hawaii I went to:
Torii Station Okinawa 6 months
Ukusa Japan for a 2 week softball tournament

So you can see the closest I came to being a grunt Marine was boot camp.

So...Operation Enduring Freedom and the '03 Invasion of Iraq. Well done!
Yeah, I was an E-3 on my first deployment in ‘01. On our first spec-op, I was barely qualified anything and so I earned the Naval Expeditionary medal by being the ship’s laundry queen for 40 days 🤣 Got the Armed Forces Expeditionary 3 weeks later after an op by cranking in the galley. Came home- country was different- people shook my hand and thanked me- called me hero- I’m like dude- I wiped tabled and folded undies 😂🤣 But my ‘03 deployment I was qualified all my watches- but still Junior enough to sleep in the torpedo room 😂 and get tossed out of my rack because we’re about to launch weapons so I had 5 minutes to get relieved from my watch, yank my crap out of my bunk, sheets, and get back on watch so they could move weapons and empty missile canisters. I didn’t get shot at or anything- felt bad sort of for eating my meals off porcelain plates- joined the expeditionary community- volunteered to go to Kuwait- camp Patriot- where they serve EVERY MEAL on paper or plastic plates, plastic utensils- so ya drive to camp Afrafjan or Ali As’Salim so you can eat a hot meal in a chow Hall on a porcelain plate and metal utensils. Funny how things work out 🤣🤣🤣

Sometimes it's all about just showing up. Not everyone is a "trigger puller", and most wouldn't want to be. You played your role.

Glad I found this group! Retired Air Force diesel mechanic. Dec 1996-Dec 2017, nine deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. I only brought a DE razor and soap on one deployment and it was stolen while I was showering so I just stuck to the cartridges and canned foam.

I've enjoyed reading this these posts and want to thank each and everyone of you for your service!
