Fountain Pen Inventory Database

My pen collection is starting to get a little out of control :)ohmy:), so I thought it might be a good idea to start keeping a record of what I have, where I got it, how much I paid, etc. A little searching found an awesome little database program written by a gentleman from FPN with everything I could possibly want to include. The best part of all is it's totally free! I've downloaded it and am in the process of entering my data. I probably won't list all the junk, broken pens, future repair projects, etc. but I still think it's good to keep track of the decent stuff!

Here's a link to his site: http://www.jonro.com/downloads/

Note: Both PC/Windows and Mac versions available.

Is the first sign you have a fountain pen problem.

Or or that you'll acquire a fountain pen problem very soon.

I have an excel spreadsheet to keep track of my pens and how much I paid for them. I also have a "to buy" list with prices and a "to sell" list in the same spreadsheet. I delete a pen from the spreadsheet after I sell it. I actually need to get more proactive about selling off a few pens.

Perhaps I need to be more proactive about inquiring which of your pens are for sell. :)

I use Filofax binders and keep a handwritten inventory, chronological order by maker, usually entering the data with the pen itself. I leave half a page or so open for repairs or modifications.

Here's a tip for everyone else... don't google FiloFax....

I am but an amateur whose "want" list far exceeds my wallet. That is why I live vicariously through other peoples acquisitions.

I think a database for pens is pretty nifty but at the same time it seems sinful to have a digital catalogue when a nice hand written spreadsheet would be so much more apropos. Yes don't anyone google FiloFax.
