forgiving cream

What is the best shaving cream to use the day after you've butchered your face? I've read before GFT Coconut is a good choice. Any others?

TOBS Avocado

Or just let your face rest for a day or two. Dont try shaving a roughed up face...it will only make it worse and thus make you not want to shave...give yourself a day off.

Cyril Salter Essential Limes, Sublime or Fresh Mint. The Salter Creams are very soothing and moisturizing. However if you have sensitive skin, I would avoid the Rose.

If you've "butchered your face" it may be best to give your face a day off of shaving to heal.

Ditto. Only time can mend a broken...err, face. But if you must shave, something mild is in order. What "mild" is can differ from individual to individual, since certain people can't tolerate certain ingredients. For instance, my first thought was to recommend T&H Ultimate Comfort: it has no colorants, no fragrance, and is extra rich in glycerin to give it added glide and conditioning properties. However, it does contain a dash of lavender oil, which lavender-sensitive people might find makes the cream far from "mild" for them. Trumper Coconut Oil is another good one, since it also has no colorants, and has a mild fragrance. Keep in mind, there really is no difference between the Coconut Oil and any of the other Trumper creams, save for scent and color. (No, it does not actually contain coconut oil.) If you really want to go for the mild, try AOS unscented. Nancy Boy Replenishing is also a good choice. It actually does contain coconut oil, in addition to a bunch of other good stuff, and has a light cucumber scent. It is also the most reasonably priced of the creams I've mentioned.

Hope this helps.

If not so bad, I would go with a cream that has Aloe in it...

Edwin Jagger Aloe would be my pick

I'll probably be burned in effigy for suggesting this, but I usually switch back to my 'lectric after I hamburgerize my face... Seems to let it heal more easily. YMMV &c.

If I'm in my 7th day or in pain I'll use tabac soap, creamo cream, or floris cream.

for work, I'm in the must shave area.

If I have to, I would reach for Nivea Extra Moisturising Shave Cream. Its simply magical. I cant get any shave irritation even if I was to try. Its just that ... extra moisturising. This cream is a cheap, no bells & whistles, just-get-the-job done kinda cream. I would tire of it pretty fast if I had to use it everyday. Nivea delivers such a close shave.

Shaving baby skin and turkey necks
Castle Forbes Lime essential oil, not cheap but good stuff

I too have found that CF creams are the most forgiving creams out there - but after I butchered my face a few times, a day off helps as well as some moisturizing cream, like Nivea.

If I am tender then I reach for the proraso. I never shave over razor burn though. Let it heal for a day or two.

My vote goes for proraso, maybe it is because the cooling effect distracts me from the irritation, either way, i go huntin for proraso if my skin is sensitive or if i have to shave a second time during the day for some reason
