I attempted to hone my first razor yesterday. Used it today. Not the best shave I've ever had, but not the worst. I think I will work on it a bit more tonight, see if I can get it to an acceptable edge. These are the stones I used, I have no idea of the grit, can someone help me out?



I'm just curious. Maybe I can't get as smooth an edge as I want with these stones.

The larger stone resembles a hard Arkansas that I own. My hard ark is on par with my Norton 4k. It might be a little finer.

Sweet! Nice Arkies. Large is a Hard, and what is the smaller one? Arkies will do the job, just slower than most other hones. Usually, in my experience, slower means better for final polishing.

The smaller is also an arkie. They came as a set. It's finer than the larger one. I'm sorry, meant to put that in my original post.

Worked on it some more tonight. Think it may be really shave ready. I'll find out in the AM. If not, I'll do some more tomorrow night!

The large one is pretty b
