First shave with the Semogue 830...

Today was the first day shaving with a boar brush, the Semogue 830. I found it refined compared to the Tweezerman and wish I had started out with it in December (my entry into DE shaving). It has plenty of backbone and I love the acrylic handle. It's a beautiful and classy-looking brush. Used Arko soap today and can't wait to try Cella, MWF, and Mama Bear's with it.

Cheers!

I like mine as well although I think the Tweezerman was a good first brush for me. I find the 830 a little too big loft-wise for face lathering though. I think my Semogue 1438 is more appropriately sized.

Enjoy! Were you lathering in a bowl or on your face?

Face lathering after rubbing the Arko on my face. I do sometimes bowl lather, but that's usually creams. I always get enough for 3 or more passes.

Good point. It is a bit lofty. I also have a Simpson Classic 1 that's good for face lathering.

Yes, a very good brush. Needs some breakend. On the days I was not shaving with it, I hand lathered it daily for 3 wks and it has become one of my favorite face lathering brushes.
