First SE shave Everready 1924

I just shaved with the Ever Ready I posted about yesterday. I was amazed by the experience. I expected better performance countered by less margin of error and a learning curve. Instead, I found it to be a gentle shave that was intuitive and forgiving. I can see how some would have different experiences. Maintaining blade angle seemed to depend more on feel and sound than sight. With my DE I could track the angle by watching, with the Ever Ready it was easier not to focus on watching the blade angle. I did get a couple of nicks adjusting to the feel going ATG on the left side of my face. I don't worry too much about an occasional nick. I see that as a momentary lapse in my technique. I focus more on skin irritation and overall shave quality as I see that as a better indication of the performance. This morning's shave was extremely comfortable and of fairly consistent quality for a first shave with a new style of razor.

my brain goes "thonk"
I found also that sound and feel are what I que into. I've been getting better shaves with my Shovel Head than I was getting with my 39C. I just started using my 39C consistently for two weeks before using the shovel head. I think I'll have to rotate. I still haven't used my Gillette SS Blue Tip.

SE razors are the ugly step sister of the shaving world. Fantastic razors but always overlooked because of their appearance

I am going to be using my SE razors all week with a new 009 RD carbon blade. It has been months since I took one out for a spin.
