Well, I had my first shave with my "new" GEM G-Bar. I have never used an SE before, and it was definitely different. I lathered up some TOBS Lavender and put it on nice and thick. When I started using the GEM, it didn't seem to cut easily through the growth (I found myself using 1/4 inch strokes). But, after the first pass, I relaxed a bit (not enough to hurt myself) and was able to finish my regular XTG and ATG with no problems. My shave (on the neck) wasn't as close as usual, but I think that will improve. Overall, a very nice shave, and probably as close as I will get to a straight. Now, as I write this, I am basking in the scent of Clubman's. Awww, off to a great start.

When it comes to new razors I find the first shave is my worst shave. I'm betting tomorrows shave will be BBS. Welcome to the Gemocracy.
Just give it a few more shaves (keep using no pressure!) and you'll be good.
