What's new

first brush purchase

Up until now I've been using a tweezerman brush predominantly, and have fooled around with two others that were my dads. I think the other two are probably collectors as I know that his dad before him used them. a Century with a red rubber handle, and something else that I can't identify however the handle is ivory and am pretty sure it's boar hair (when I say "pretty sure" I actually mean I have no idea). the antiques are heavily used and don't work very well and I think the tweezerman just beats up my face too much. I don't know a lot about knot sizes, hair quality, or any of that but I would like something soft, that lathers well. I have about a $40 budget before shipping. any advice here would be wonderful.:001_smile

If you like those handles, you could get new knots for them. You could have two nice brushes for under your $40. take a look at some of the restore threads that are up to get an idea.

Post a pic of those handles, some people here might be able to help out.

I am new to the world of wet shaving as I started about a month or so ago, so take what I have to say at face value. I use a Vulfix #403 Best Badger Shaving Brush. It was $39.99 from ClassicShaving.com. In my very limited time wet shaving, it has got me a very nice lather fast. Hope this helps.
