First Brush Does This Look Ok

Edwin Jagger makes a fine shaving brush, so it would not be a bad choice. However, if you are wanting to experience the luxury of a softer tip that higher end badger brushes provide, this pure badger would be a poor choice. If you like prickle and scritch when lathering, pure badger is a good choice for you.

If it were me, I would spend a little more money and buy a silvertip brush, this way you can see what all the hype is about in comparing a boar brush which you are used to, and the revered badger brush we all love!

Thanks for the replies
I really only have around £20 to spend on a brush
Thats why i saw that edwin jagger one and it was well within my price range
:biggrin1:

I'd agree with Gingerbread. There is certainly nothing wrong with a pure grade hair, it's what I used daily for 5 years, but if you can "hold off" and maybe save a bit more...splurging for the best would suit you much better imho. You may want to take a look at Vulfix brushes as well, they offer nice quality for a very fair price.

Another option to get more for your buck, check out the BST and see if you can find something that may get you a bit more value. Let us know what you go with.

For 20 quid, I strongly suggest giving a high quality boar from Semogue, Omega, Vulfix or Kent a look. You get much more bang for your, um, buck with those.

This is just within your range. Free shipping, too. You may want to go with a Semogue, though. I think you can get a Semogue Owner's Club Boar, and, as far as I'm concerned, that's THE best bargain brush there is. Another option could be a silvertip from Larry at WhippedDog. I think his shipping is only a buck or two more for international shipping.

@Gingerbread
That edwin jagger brush you mentioned above is that a better quality hair than the one i was looking at
thanks

Hello Liam,

May I suggest you contact "Fido" New Forest Brushes here in the U.K He has an excellent choice of Badger brushes most of them being SilverTip. NOT Pure badger hair, when you experience the difference between Pure, Best & SilverTip they are worlds apart.

Also consider either will the brush be used for Face or Bowl lathering, or using Soaps or Creams. Peter (fido) will give you advise.

Hope this helps.

I got one of those to send to my son in his first kit. Most foul smelling when new so I decided to break it in before giving it to him. I was very impressed. Lots of backbone and It's slightly prickly but in a good way. An excellent choice for face lathering. For about 20 minutes after I finished shaving I could feel my face tingling. Kind of a nice effect.
I may get one for myself.

I had one, loved it, unfortunately, left it in Reno on a recent trip, along with my 38c...only good thing about it is I've had to use a Gillette from 1966 and boy, what a much better shave, so there was a good point to my loss...
