Finally Got It, My First Stainless Steel Razor

My Feather AS-D2 came in todays mail. My first impression is, I am amazed at the Quality and Craftsmanship that went into this tool. :001_tt1: I know that some don't seem to like the looks of the new AS-D2 compared to the AS-D1. Personally, I love the looks of the AS-D2. I like the brighter look of the stainless. I think that some are turned off by the new design of the underside of the guard plate. The alignment slots protrude down slightly instead of being flush with the bottom of the plate like the original Feather. I do not find this design change objectionable at all and I assume that they made that change for a reason. Maybe that little bit of extra material refines the balance, I don't know but like I said I don't mind it at all. While the packaging has changed and it no longer comes in the wooden box the cardboard box it does come in is quite nice. The box is very attractive, well made and does a great job in both protecting and displaying the razor.

I am looking forward to shaving with it in the morning. I will report back after my first go round with it and give my impressions of how well it cuts my whiskers and treats my face.

Feather has always been know for quality and class in their high end razors. Looks like this new model is no exception.

Very well put! I am spoiled with BRW handles and replated FB and Slims and I never thought that anybody could outdo those products in quality and class. That all changed when I opened the wooden box with my AS-D1 almost three years ago... I congratulate the OP on his choice of shaving hardware!

Awesome hope your first shave is a good one. Hurry up and give us a review:)
The more I hear about it the more I want one. But I'll pass I have the asd1

I hope you enjoy your new acquisition Stampede! Razors are a personal thing but I found this one of the best DE razors I've ever owned (about 30). Huge difference with the first Feather model (the one I tried couldn't be used to obtain a somewhat decent shave result even if doing 10 passes). The new one however is really good, it's still mild however but very efficient, you hear and feel when you have the correct angle. The end result is a BBS in 3 passes on the face and 2 passes on the head for me. I could get the same result in one less pass with the R41 but it wouldn't feel so velvety smooth during the shaving. I'm very happy with it, one of the smoothest shavers I have, very close to the Weber DLC.

i'm using my AS D2 for about 2 weeks now & it gives me a great shave, prior to buying it i heard talk about being to mild & not doing a good job,to me mild =smooth i don't think i'll ever buy another razor, i gauge this on having a merkur 38 & 39 slant, i had reservations about getting it at first because of the price but i'm more than happy with it, i will have to add it to my pre nups agreement
