Filarmonica question...

I saw a #14 (Barba duras) NOS go on ebay for nearly 600 dollars. I understand they are "fantastic" razors...but am I missing something? 600 dollars?

Supply and demand...they aren't made anymore, and there are reviews around of how great they are and so on so forth, I'd love to try the EPBD, but no way am I going to spend that much on a NOS razor. Some people just got to have one, hence the high prices.

Mega hyped up razor,
I have #13 and it shaves fantastic but I can tell you there are other brands that shave just as well.

Asinine. 5 years ago, you could pick one of those up (NOS) on ebay for $35 shipped. Someone is making a killing....

Great blade. Scales are worse than a Pearlex dublduck IMO.

If Im paying $600 for a straight it better be rare and have intricate details about it or be custom Ellis.

People can spend alot of coin on a razor, but smart ones don't. For me personally I will never spend more than $100 on a single blade. I think this is a healthy philosophy and it's worked for me as I have been able to buy a decent Puma and LeGrelot on Ebay by waiting for the right deal. I've never understood how razors like the Filly can become some overhyped and how people will overpay so much coin. Oh well.....

I have a 4/8" Fil, and it's in my top five razor brands. But it's up there with razors that can be had well under $50 (Genco's). The only razors I've used that So far have really distinguished themselves above Genco's are PS&C and DublDucks.

Try Griffon, those shave really well, the one I honed for a member here was one of the smoothest I have had, including filarmonica, two different TIs and several Henckels.

I mean, I spent less than 600 bucks on these.
