Feedback on a starter kit

I'd love to get some feedback on a budget starter shaving kit I'm putting together for a good friend of mine. He likes to keep things simple and uncluttered, so based on that I came up with the following:

-1960 Gillette Flare Tip Superspeed
-Tweezerman Brush
-a pack of Derby blades
-KMF Cool Mint (travel size)
-Nivea sensitive aftershave balm

Thanks for your feedback!

Giant Kiwi/DEshave/Shave_Rat: Great suggestion, I have a blade sampler that I can definitely share, I'll plan to put two blades from a couple of different brands.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I definitely am trying to equip my friend with items that DON'T need to be purchased at a specialty store. One other thing I thought of adding was as styptic pencil, an item I found VERY helpful in those first few weeks of switching from cartridge.

A shave stick that he'll have to buy online from a specialty website, versus a bottle of cream he can buy at any health food store in town?

He never mentioned local availability until you mentioned it. "Simple and uncluttered" have nothing to do where you purchase the stuff from, besides, where do you get Derby blades locally? Or NOT from a "specialty" store? Unless you keep things über simple there's simply no way to only shop strictly locally as a DE shaver.

Bottom line is a shave stick such as Arko = simplicity, esp for traveling.

I guess if you are looking from that perspective, face lathering from a tube of CO Bigelow is just as simple for travel, and usually obtainable locally, since those bath and body works stores seem to be pretty much within 20 miles max of just about the whole conus. lol

Plenty of blades available in most drugstores, walmarts, etc., If you're trying to convince someone that DE shaving is simple and easy to get into I wouldn't start by asking him to go on the internet to buy from specialty websites.

I really feel like (and it's not only you) like people dont read before commenting on a post sometimes. I already told you that the OP never mentioned "local availability" as a priority and now you're getting into more irrelevant discussion. Nobody's asking the OP's friend to get anything off the net, the OP who is already (I assume) a DE shaver, is getting everything for his buddy. What are you talking about?
