As I pad my post count I should add that a traditional kamisori will come VERY close to an AC in terms of sharpness IMO. But the assymetrical grind of the traditional Kamisori is hard to replicate with a glorified DE blade. It's still a nice shave tho'
Just to trying to catch up with Kentos post count,
Yes. Feather ACs are uber sharp and, while many Kamis are very sharp, I've never met one that would compare to a
Feather AC Super Pro. Neither for sharpness nor longevity before needed stropping. Of course, the Kami will last indefinitely if you are nice to it. The Feather AC needs to have the blade changed occasionally (unless you strop and hone it, too).
The Kami, as Kentos said, is asymmetrically ground so the angle is different depending on which side is against your face. Ideally (?) they are meant to always be used on with the flat side against your face. That makes you do some interesting contortions if you try to remain traditional. If you use both sides, the Kamisori police will knock on your door and take your mojo away.
I guess "very" can be left open to debate But when I dial in one of my "axes" it is pretty darn close...i get weepers and all on the first shave off the stones if I am not careful. Kinda like the first shave off a Super if you are overly cocky
